10 Things Ruining Video Games - Micro-transactions

Micro-transactions are inoffensive in a way like if  you want to spend your money on gun paint, virtual outfits, or other similar items. Micro-transactions are offensive when online gaming experience get affected by it. In Call of Duty: Black Ops III you can buy in game currency by spending real money. That in game currency can be used to buy powerful weapons. Meanwhile in Star Wars Battlefront you can buy powerful weapons to give yourself some advantage over your enemies.

These kind of features create imbalance between games/players, giving some players advantage who are in position to spend real money over those who try to succeed by skill and ability alone. And most importantly, isn’t honing your skill part of what gaming is all about?

Now the makers of Payday 2 got infected with this virus of dollar-eyes who were previously admired for their loyalty towards the gaming community. Now they started to allow you to pay money to buy more weapons and gain XP (experience points) in different missions.

It is a perfect example of elitism and it really undermines a medium that is thrived on encouraging competition and rewarding skill.
